These boots are made for walking

I have completely forgotten to properly introduce the latest addition to my shoe family: the Ann Demeulemeester riding boots. They are actually a second hand find from Berlin and ever since we met, we've been inseparable - that's how comfortable and well-made they are.

First I thought they wouldn't fit me right, being size 36 and all, but they are actually perfect (and still roomy) for my size 37 feet. So if you ever get boots (perhaps this applies to other shoes as well?) from Ann Dem, remember that the sizing runs at least one size big and to get your shoes in one size smaller than usual.

Whilst in Berlin, I also had the pleasure of trying on the famous Rick Owens wedges and noticed that those run one size big as well. Now I'm quite doubtful about shopping for shoes online, I guess you can never be sure if they fit true to size or not...

Walking on clouds

These shoes just came all the way from Helsinki with a help of three lovely ladies. I first spotted these beauties on Stella in the Finnish Olivia magazine, and instantly texted her asking if they were as comfortable as they looked. She confirmed my suspicions, and so hunt for the shoes began.

Since my hometown Tampere had limited resources (as usual), I contacted Essi to see if she could pick up a pair of the "Missys" for me from the Vagabond store in Helsinki and bring them to my birthday party. She picked up the shoes but unfortunately got sick and couldn't make it to my birthday, so the shoes didn't find their way home at that time. Luckily Laura was planning on visiting Helsinki, and kindly promised to bring my babies home for me. So after a long story, here they finally are.

At this point you could ask how many black platform ankle booties does a girl need (I got three pairs now) but when shoes despite the four inch heel are feeling like the heaven is kissing your feet, you just can't turn them down, can't you?

8 holes

A year long wait is now over and my new puppies have finally found their way home. These white eight hole Dr. Martens seem to be sold out everywhere, especially in my foot size but luckily my boyfriend managed found them and on discount, too. How great is that?! They will be so handy during Flow Festival this Saturday. Hmm... what to pair these with though? The options are endless, so you just gotta wait and see.

P.S. Don't forget my blog's birtday competiton. It will end on Saturday, so hurry!

On the (w)edge

Anyone who reads my blog should know by now how obsessed I've been with Givenchy and Riccardo Tisci's creations. I've been on the look out for the perfect Givenchy like wedge sandals (Louboutin, Ann Dem, Opening Ceremony and Acne has similar too) for awhile now and when I noticed these Bronx ones from Elenita's blog a couple of days a ago, it was from that moment on I was sure that they shall be mine, no matter what. The creamy color just wasn't as wearable, so I started to browse online searching for a black leather version. All the web stores that carried them were all located in the U.S. (damn customs!) and my size was sold out from most of the places too. Clueless of what to do I turned to my friend Esa at Spirit Store emailing him about my desperate need of these shoes (he has been a great help before when I was on the hunt for a pair of platform booties, thanks Esa!!). Instantly he promised to look them up for me, and even contact the buyer if they couldn't find them from any of the stores. You can believe how excited I was when I received an email saying that he found the shoes from another store and a phone call today asking me to come pick them up. So here they are: my very own lace-up sandals. I'm so happy I could faint!

Sandals: Bronx

All we need now is for the snow to melt and spring to arrive, so I can take these babies out for a walk. In the meanwhile, they'll get their debut indoors.

The skyscraper boots

I recently got these crazy platform wedge boots from eBay but I'm thinking I should modify them a little bit. They are quite flattering to the legs in this length but I'm hesitating whether or not I should shorten the leg to make them look something more like these Vivienne Westwood boots or the Rick Owen wedge booties. I guess I'll just see how they work with different outfits and see if the shortening is necessary or not.

To keep them long or short: that is the question.

Chocolate and strawberry ice cream

After a long wait, my Asos shoe order finally arrived. I must say, these heels are crazy and I feel like a giant whilst walking around the apartment. I didn't dare to actually wear these to walk out of the backyard because the streets of my city are slippery as hell. At least you can see what the rest of today's outfit consisted of (just changed the shoes to my black platform booties): playing with soft grey, chocolate brown and creamy pink. Look how my outfit matches the background colors perfectly! And yes, it's totally ok to wear socks in your sandals when the meter hits minus figures.

Blazer: MTWTFSS
Jeans: Cheap Monday (from my bf's closet)
Powder pink tee: H&M Trend
Shoes: Asos
Accessories: Kalevala Koru and my bf's cuff

I'm still hesitating if I should add some studs on these sandals, if so, I was thinking of black studs so that they won't be all bling bling. I don't want to look like I just came back from Ibiza, if you catch my drift...

I also made amazing finds today at this second hand shop: real leather pants, a jumpsuit, a cardigan with a twist, couple of small backbags (so 90's that they make you want to cry) and something I've been looking for ages and it happened to be the first thing I saw. More about that and all the other crazy finds later on...

Now I'm off to see Pintandwefall. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Jeepers Creepers

I've always felt a bit guilty for rocking my 4 inch heels when my boyfriend and I go out on the weekends. It so happens that we are almost the same height, making me a platform heeled giant compared to him. It doesn't really bug him that much but somehow I feel it's a bit unfair.

We have both actively searched for these crazy Rick Owens men's heels which in my opinion, would look totally awesome on him. Prince (the musician) once stated that he "doesn't wear heels because he's short, he wears them because the ladies like it", and I believe him. I just happen to be one those ladies who doesn't see anything wrong with a guy wearing a bit of heel, why would it only be women's right to do so?. They guys did in the 70's too, and there was nothing wrong about it. Rick Owens himself puts it this way: "As the suit gave Marlene Dietrich extra allure, high heels on a guy give him a reckless virility. If there's an icy hauteur to a boxy black suit on a woman, there's a good-natured middle finger to heels on a guy, as if to say, "I dare you to blink at me, mother fucker"", and he is so right.

While the search for the Owens heels continue in the wonderful world of fashion forums and online stores, I found something awhile back that might be a one step closer to solving our height difference: Creepers. My boyfriend was hestitating at first (nostalgia issue, his brother had them in the 90's) but after seeing more Creepers marching down the runway and us spending numerous hours on the internet searching for the right pair, these zipper Creepers came to our view. It was THE pair that he just couldn't say no to.

I have to say I'm actually really warming up for Creepers myself, I just have to find the right look and size. They would look great with skinny jeans, a band tee and a blazer. Add a little bit of red lipstick, messy hair and smokey eyes and you got the whole rock chic look down. Works for me!

PS. If there are any readers out there selling the Rick Owens heels in size 41, please email me. Your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Black or brown

Yesterday I officially lost my Asos.com virginity as I placed my first order there. These amazing real leather platform sandals are discounted down to 18 pounds, so I just couldnt help myself anymore. The only minus is that they are brown, last week they still had black in my size but I was hesitating. Stupid lazy me. Perhaps I'll color them black at a shoe repair place like Honey Junkie did or add some studs on them. What do you guys think I should do?

OTK love

Thanks to a very aware anonymous reader who had spotted these amazing boots in the Andiamo shoe store's window, I am now a proud owner of a pair of leather OTK boots. Thank you so much for the help; my mission came to a happy end. The sales lady was kind enough to give me some shoe care products and these cool inflatable boot trees. They are every shoe lover's dream toys.

The boot dilemma: OTK boots

The sun is starting to set here at 4pm which has made it impossible to take pictures without any decent light. As it leaves much more time for internet surfing, I have been obsessively looking for a perfect pair of over the knee (OTK) boots. While browsing through the Givenchy's spring/summer 09 collection, their OTK boots made my hunger grow.

Source: Style.com

Ebay has some vintage pairs to offer but majority of the time the prices get a bit too high or the size is not right. I almost jumped from my seat when my lovely boyfriend linked me these OTK boots with a zipper from Yesstyle.

However, PU as a material worries me as the weather is getting colder and I've had an experience with a pair of boots that had cracked when the temperature hit -20C (yes, it does get that cold here sometimes). I'm also worried about the possible customs and tax that might affect the purchase (anyone have any experience with ordering from Hong Kong?). After surfing some more in the wonderful world of internet, I found a couple of interesting pairs from Bianco Footwear. They both seem quite perfect but the price is still rather high for my taste.

If any of you dear readers know a good online store where I could get a pair of OTK boots that actually ship to Europe, are leather and not overly priced, please help a girl in need. I will also check a local store here since my trusted salesperson emailed me that might have something I'm looking for. I got my Bullboxer platform booties there after his recommendation and those have been my most worn pair of shoes this year. Hopefully my search will come to a happy end.

Ebay fever

After a long break from online shopping I decided it was time to give in a little. Somewhat thanks to the fact that our Etsy vintage store started out so well and I felt that I deserve something for myself. I have been looking for a bowler hat for a long time now but most of the ones I have seen have been very pricey or bad quality, so I decided to turn to eBay. I found an amazing hat store called Uniformal Wearhouse which sells quality hats with a reasonable price. I am finally getting my very own bowler hat!

I have also been looking for a pair of platform sandals and when these ones appeared to me on eBay, I just could not resist anymore. They are man-made yes, and Dior knockoffs (Carrie wears the authentic pair in the SATC movie) yes, but since I have not won the lottery, these will do. The price, 22 dollars and 90 cents doesn't hurt either.

I will report again when my goods have arrived. Hopefully by early next week since I am attending a trip to Stockholm along with some other Finnish bloggers. It shall be a very interesting trip and I will tell you all about it in time...

The combat boots 2008

Last winter I made a huge deal about getting myself a pair of platform booties. This winter my obsession is combat boots; well, in fact the obsession started last year but I had to choose between platforms and combats. Girl can't have it all at once, right? Anyway, I have been looking for the perfect pair from every single store in my town, and today I came really close to what I want. I'm still debating though, wondering if there is something better around the corner (I'm sure you all know the feeling). I'm quite content with my purchase, and I think these do look great BUT.. there is always the big but...

Dress: H&M Trend
Belt: Suomen paras vyökauppa
Combat boots: Kenkärepo

I would like them to be more like the Ann Dem ones, with a longer leg. I know there is one place in Helsinki which might have something like it but one can never be sure. Also the thing is, that I would like to wear the combat boots to a fashion meeting organized by Tyylitaivas on Saturday (which is the initial reason why I'm going to Helsinki). What to do? Shall I keep these or keep looking? The more I try them on, the more I grow into them...

I also got this cool studded belt a few days back. Originally it was too long but the store customizes and shortens the belts to be suitable for their new owner. What I was looking for was something Lulu from Everybody's Ugly is wearing. However, I had no chance of going to Zara so this belt had to do. It's not the same exact thing but I like it a lot anyway!

Soon I'm off to see Everything is Made in China, a truly great Russian indie/shoe gaze/post rock band.

Bat Girl vs. Annie Hall

On Monday my boyfriend and I went out to a restaurant for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. For this special occasion I wore my latest love, the grandpa pants. Everything on me is new and from Stockholm; the bat sleeved zipper collar shirt, the shoes and purple tights. I've been looking for purple tights forever and I was so happy to finally find a pair. Later on it got so cold that I wore my boyfriend's brown cardigan giving it the Annie Hall look (I'm the biggest Woody Allen fan ever!).

Shirt: MTWTFSS
Pants: Monki

Shoes: Skopunkten
Tights: Twillfit
Bag: Saddler

Speaking of bat sleeves, yesterday I went to see the new Batman movie and I must say I really enjoyed it. I was so tense sitting in my seat that I kept munching popcorn like crazy throughout the whole movie. Heath Ledger as the Joker was awesome, its a pity that such a talented actor died so suddenly.
P.S. I assured my boyfriend that I won't get these shoes pictured below if I find a decent pair of shoes from Stockholm. Well, now that I'm four new pairs richer after the trip, I'm still lusting over these red-a-licious ankle boots. Please give me a good enough reason why I should not get them...?!? They are the most adorable pair I have seen in awhile, and yes, I don't normally even like the color red!
