Bursting the bubble
Friday's festivities didn't end at the Hollywood party, I actually came home for a quick change and headed to the local indie club with some friends. Not being able to get over the Givenchy fall/winter 08/09 RTW collection, the outfit of the evening was, yet again, inspired by it.
This skirt is actually a project of mine that I've been working on for a few months (procrastination included). Surprisingly, it got done right before the party. A bell-shaped pleather skirt with a high waist and a really huge tulle underneath was the original idea but since the fabric didn't work like I wanted it to, the skirt turned out to look much better in a bubble shape. This project demanded blood, sweat and a new sewing machine (the old one broke while sewing it!) but I'm quite pleased with the end result, especially when this was my first time dealing with this type of rough material. In real life the pleather is actually more matte than in the pictures but at least you get the picture. As excited as I am about this new skirt of mine, I have to admit that the wrinkled white button up shirt has been one of the best purchases in a long time. It's so versatile since you can tie the ribbons anyway you like. Very Givenchy-esque, yes?

the skirt is fabulous! it looks great on you and i think it fits perfectly into your wardrobe and style.
i wouldn't have guessed it's self-made! not a fan of pleather but this works surprisingly well, especially on a girly cut like a bubble skirt.
That skirt looks amazing, but I have to admit that I really, really love that shirt. I want one just like it!!
Yes! The skirt's well worth the agony, and inspires me to start sewing NOW. And I adore the outfit, the shirt is amazing.
Gorgeous, gorgeous and with this red lipstick - definitely so you!!!
Onnistunut keikaus !
great skirt. I'm getting my first OWN sewing machine in Xmas, can't wait!

kuolluttaaaa..................
Thank you everyone for all the lovely comments, I'm overwhelmed. :)
Cafe noir: Pleather on lyhenne sanoista plastic leather, joten on joo tekonahkaa siis. :)
Anonymous: Enpä kovin usein joudu. :) Missä mielessä tuo oli tarkoitettu, hyvässä vai pahassa? :D Otan sen myönteisesti. :)
Aava: Tuo kangas on tekonahkaa, ostettu Eurokankaasta. Ei ollut varsinaista kaavaa, kikkailin sen ensin yhden H&M:n kellohameen mukaan ja tein siitä sitten tuollaisen pallohameen ihan omasta päästä. :D
Preumauflauge: Oh, I checked it out, you did a good job!! :)
Styledigger: I took the measurements from a bell shaped H&M skirt and since the end product didn't come as I wanted it to, I changed ito bell shape. I just played around with it and thats how it came out. :) Can't wait to see your shoes! Happy new year to you too!
Blaah: Totta. Isäni kuoli viikko ennen joulua, että aika kuollutta on todellakin ollut. Ei ole paljon bloggailu napannut viime päivinä.
Ihan mieletön asu! En voi uskoa tota hametta itse tehdyksi, niin upea se on!
Pinja2: Kiitos kovasti!
