Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes

New year brings new exciting changes for Fashion Flux! I've been asked to join a special project with 18 other Finnish fashion bloggers, and this project will start on Monday the 4th of January 2010. Basically whats going to happen, is that my blog will be moved to a site called Indiedays which is a lifestyle portal featuring fashion, style and beauty. Do not worry though, the content of my blog won't change in any way, the only major change is that I'll have a few advertising banners on the sidebar of my blog which enables me to get a little compensation for putting all the time and effort into this blog.

Moving so many blogs under one roof will also bring great things for you readers. Together we are more powerful, so there will be more fun stuff coming your way, for example in the form of giveaways and competitions. We will be also able to work with fashion designers, showrooms and other style/fashion related projects which makes things a wee bit interesting for all of you, and for myself of course.

You will be still able to find me from the familiar adress http://fluxorist.blogspot/, the guys at Indiedays will redirect you to my new address http://fashionflux.indiedays.com/. Also my very own dot com, http://www.fashion-flux.com/, will redirect you there, so feel free to use any of these addresses to find me after the 4th.

All of the bloggers joining the portal won't be revealed at once, so if you want to get the latest scoop (only in Finnish, sorry) about what's going on, do join the Facebook group or Twitter group of Indiedays. From there you can also find the latest news of what's happening inside the portal after it's opened.

I'm hoping this change will open great opportunities and new doors for me, as I've always wanted to work with fashion. Now I'm one step closer to my dream...

P.S. You should be still able to follow me through Blogger, Bloglovin, Blogilista, RSS feed and other services!

Zero

I often get remarks on how I resemble Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and I guess we share some similar features, especially when my hair used to be black and cut more abstract. I think Karen is cute and her fashion sense is phenomenal, so I'm very flattered by all these comments. Funny story is that I actually met her in L.A. a couple of years ago when my friends and I partied with her and Johnny Knoxville at L.A.'s best indie club called Part Time Punks (I can recommend that club to anyone visiting the city). She was very nice, at least of what I remember.

Anyway, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are now coming up with a new album called "It's Blitz" and the first single "Zero" is already out. I seriously think that the hit song of the year has been born; I'm literally dancing here behind the screen right now. The only bad thing about this video is that it makes me miss California even more (it was shot in SF). For those of you who wonder why I tend to talk about Cali ever so often, it's because my boyfriend is from SoCal and I've spent a good amount of time over there over the past 7 years that we have been together. The big plan is to move out there one day. But enough yapping about moi, here is the video for you guys to enjoy.

P.S. The new album has leaked and if you liked this song, you'll love the whole album.

Say hello to my new three legged friend, Mr. Gorillapod

Only a blogger could ask for such a selfish b-day present. Introducing my new friend, Mr. Gorillapod. This little three legged alien looking thing is every blogger's dream toy and a great help for taking those totally self-centered photos of oneself. You can twist the legs as you like and attach it to anything, I even tried it on a door handle and it stayed there and was ready for a picture. Truly fantastic! I got the mid-size one but these come in different sizes/lengths. My pod weighs only 165 grams so it's fairly light to take anywhere you go (no need for those heavyweight tripods anymore). Read more info here if you're interested.

My new friend Mr. Gorillapod and my camera

I got this little fella from my parents (after requesting it of course) when I had a b-day dinner at their place on Sunday. The days are getting so gray that it's hard to snap an outfit photo even during daytime. That's one thing Mr. Gorillapod can't help with, unfortunately; however, this is what I wore on Sunday.

It's so Unik

My blog being featured on the Frisky this month was a true surprise and an honor. Today I noticed that an interview that I gave a few weeks back to a Finnish magazine called Unik Paper was finally published. The article can be downloaded here (page 6).

The story is in Finnish but basically I'm talking about this fall's trends such as leather, chains and black color. The piece was titled on the cover as "Dark fall fashion: Fashion Blogger's Tips" and the actual interview as "Sweet, Dark Fashion" (both my own translations). The story came out really good, except there is a little confusion about the figures on how many people visit my blog; the amount is actually based on monthly results, not weekly, as it might let you interpret.

It is a pity that I didn't have time to provide them with any pictures (due to a tight deadline) but I guess my blog speaks for itself. Anyway, I am really honored that my blog is titled as "one of the most interesting Finnish blogs". Thank you Sonja for this title and the great opportunity!

Frisky business

A couple of days ago I received an email from the lovely Annika of the Frisky.com stating that she had chosen my blog to an article about "Bloggers Whose Style We Envy". I am very honored to be in this bunch since I'm there with style icons such as Lulu from Everybody is Ugly and some other very fashionable ladies. Thank you so much for featuring me, the Frisky!
