My new boyfriend (jeans)

Guess what the postman brought me on Tuesday? Yup, the famous Levi's 501 boyfriend jeans. I almost couldn't believe my luck when I read that I had won these from the stylish Stella's blog competition awhile back, and now they are actually mine (alongside with Cat Power's latest, yay!).

Wearing Levi's 501s again after so many years is certainly a trip down the memory lane; these used to be pretty much my uniform in elementary school and throughout junior high school as well. They are so comfy and relaxed; it feels very liberating to wear something like this after a long period of skinny jeans. It's no wonder I've been wearing this every single day since I got them, even last night when we went out dancing.

Levi's 501 boyfriend jeans - you have officially earned your way into my daily wardrobe!

Dark tones

Having a few weeks off of blogging due to a horrendous cold, has been kind of a booster for me to get this blog back on the road again. I've actually started a photography course in order to provide you with better outfit shots, and have plans of paying the damn upgrade fee of Imageshack, so the pictures will load a bit faster. The things I do for this blog and for you guys...It's all for the best, I'm sure.

This blackalicious (or business goth, as Ranna put it) outfit is from Saturday, when we celebrated my boyfriend's b-day over some Mexican food and visited the Design on Tampere's design market. In the evening there was an actual b-day party itself, but unfortunately it was too dark (and too much fun) to take any outfit pictures of my dress. A perfectly valid reason to wear the same outfit again sometime, haha.

Love will tear us apart

The damn seasonal flu (thank God not the swine flu) has kept me indoors for the past week, and since an old pyjama has not been the best outfit material for a fashion blog, I've kept it quiet here as well. There is really nothing more annoying than feeling like crap, looking like a Peruvian druglord due to all the nose blowing, and coughing like you've smoked cigarettes since the merry 1950's ending up keeping yourself and your partner up at night. Finally there are some signs of recovery, although I can't leave my place without my tissues and the nasal spray (how attractive), and my voice still gets lost in the evenings.

So, here I am barely up again, wearing something cozy and something quite Alexander Wangish with my latest purchases. I picked up all the arm candy from Lindex after receiving their press release, and falling in love with all the Givenchy- est que pieces they got going on this fall. I also found some tye dye leggings and a very Edie Sedgwick-like knitted vest, but more about those later. The bum beanie is quite new too; I was literally forced to get it because if you like bangs like I do, well, let's just say that the autumn wind does not agree with you most of the time. The corduroy pants are a second hand find for one Euro and the t-shirt I purchased when I was in Stockholm back in June.

Speaking of the t-shirt, I must confess something right here and right now: I'm not the biggest fan of these statement t-shirts with huge text over the chest (except maybe those "Frankie says relax" ones, due to their nostalgic value), especially when they say something tacky like "I went to Ibiza and all I got was this lousy t-shirt". You might wonder what made me change my mind with this t-shirt acquired from Weekday; well, with a text you can barely even see and with lyrics of one of my favorite Joy Division tracks, it was the perfect statement shirt of all times. So here, today, it also ends up being the perfect choice for this outfit.

Boot straps

If you are tired of all your old shoes, and want to make them a bit more edgy, look no further because a pair of boot straps are the perfect solution to all your problems (thank you Aurora for the tip!). I found mine from a store called Mouseyessim on eBay and since the folks at the store are so nice, they promised to give all of my readers a -10% discount from all of their products!

I can say nothing but positive about the store: the communication was excellent, the shipment came here in Finland in three days (they ship from UK), the item was as described, and of course the prices are very reasonable, too. They have quite a lot of new stuff coming in their store, so check it out!

To get your -10% discount, just mention "Fashion Flux" when you make your purchase, but remember to wait with the payment until they send you an invoice with the discounted price. Happy shopping my beloved readers!

Facelift

As you might have noticed my banner has had a little face lift, and I'm finally happy with the layout of this blog. You might wonder who is behind the banner drawing, and in fact, there is a nice little story behind it.

About one month ago, I organized a birthday competition for my blog's first anniversary, giving away this amazing silver bracelet from Funky Marie Design's shop. The competition was won by a Brazilian reader of mine, a fashion design student called Nathália Nunes. As a thank you for winning the competition, she send me this cute color drawing that she had quickly drafted of me. I could see that she had real talent there, so we started exchanging emails and thoughts about fashion design, and she also let me see a glimpse of her past collection.

Thereby, I asked her to draw another picture of me (featuring one of my all time favorite outfits) to use on my blog's banner, and here we are. I'm really happy with it, thank you so much Nathália! As a result of our discussions, she has also started a blog called Out of the Blue that will feature fashion and her up and coming designs. I wish all the best for her and her career!

This is our decision, to live fast or die young, we got the vision, now let's have some fun!

As promised, here are some more pictures from the past weekend. These are all from Saturday's craziness, I can't recall the last time when I've had such a random and fun night in this city. We ended up seeing the New Wine and the Finnish electro legend Op:l Bastards at MOP, who also hung out with us at the backstage for a bit. In the end it was just our gang invading the space, eating their leftover sandwhiches and sodas. We also ended up to the strangest after party with DJ decks and spin the bottle (don't ask me how and what went on after that).

I wore my newest purchase, the Rick Owens DRKSHDW tunic dress which is so comfortable and well tailored that I literally want to live in it from now on. Essi was looking fabulous as always, and we just had to take some mutual shots to show how we almost have the same profile! She really feels like the little sister that I never had, that's how similar we are in so many ways.

Turn on the bright lights

This weekend consisted of seeing good bands, reckless partying, taking hundreds of photos, laughter, crashing the backstage, hanging out with friends, and finally getting home on Sunday at 6AM from a crazy after party including a topless man and spin the bottle. I've also had the pleasure to hang out with the sweet Essi from the Fashion Overdose, as she crashed our pad during the MOP festival which overtook this city from Thursday to Saturday.
Essi and I have talked about fashion and blogging for hours and hours, luckily she didn't get annoyed about the fact that I tend to become a chatter box when I'm passionate about something. Now my sleep deprived body needs its rest, so I'll let Friday's outfit pictures open a window to this busy weekend of mine. More pictures to come in the following posts, so stay tuned!
